Nervous about your first visit? That’s completely normal.
Most people feel a little uneasy before their first pelvic PT appointment. Here’s exactly what to expect, so there are no surprises. You set the pace, and you can ask questions, pause, or say no at any point.
Three things to know going in
- You’ll receive intake forms through a secure patient portal. Share what feels comfortable; we can talk through the rest together.
- Wear comfortable clothes you can move in. There’s nothing else to prepare and nothing to bring except your questions.
- You’re welcome to bring a partner, friend, or support person. Babies are welcome too.
What actually happens
We talk
I’ll ask about your symptoms, goals, health history, and daily life. This is often the most important part.
We move
I’ll look at your posture, breathing, hips, back, and core — fully clothed.
We decide together
If a pelvic floor exam would help, I’ll explain what it involves and why, and you choose: an external exam, an internal exam, or none at all. There’s no wrong answer, and you can change your mind anytime, even partway through.
You leave with a plan
You’ll understand what’s likely going on, what we’ll work on, and two or three things to start at home.
Consent isn’t a form here. It’s the whole visit.
After your visit, your home program lives in your patient portal with videos, and you can message me with questions between visits.
You don’t have to keep putting this off.
Most people wait years before getting help for pelvic symptoms. Your first step is a free, no-pressure conversation — you talk, Jess listens, and together you decide whether Haven is a good fit.
